As North Texas prepared to host one of the world’s largest sporting events, more than 44,000 children were making plans of their own. They coordinated neighborhood clean-ups, a hospital toy drive, anti-graffiti campaigns, food drives and more. And in the end, they discovered that heroism and leadership aren’t only characteristics of all-star athletes. A feature-length documentary from award-winning filmmaker Mark Birnbaum, SLANT 45:The Movie is by turns comical and poignant and offers an intimate look at children who, through ingenuity, courage and spirit, embarked on a year-long journey to identify problems and improve the lives of those around them. SLANT 45: The Movie shows that young people are not only our future; they have the power to change it for the better.
